Site - The existing barn, which is to be transformed into a holiday residence, is located near a small village on an elevated plain in the upper region of Valais, Switzerland at an altitude of 1400 m. The barn was built in 1932 in order to shelter cattle on the ground floor and to stock hay on the upper floor. The existing structure made of larch wood planks is in a very good condition.

Displacement of the barn - In order to use the barn as a living space, it had to be displaced for fire protection reasons, as well as to provide a comfortable ceiling height. The new position and orientation of the barn was chosen to provide a maximum amount of sunlight and to benefit from several views provided by the openings of the existing structure
